Double, Double, Toil and Trouble
In the gloom of night
And fearsome weather,
GHOULS and
GOBLINS
prowl together.
-Author: Unknown
Happy Halloween to all people, witches, goblins, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and all you other crazy deamons out there(even though most tend to take the day off)!!! And remember:
"Double, double, toil and trouble,
Fires burn and cauldron bubble"
"Fair is fowl and fowl is fair,
Hover through the fog and filthy air"
(Macbeth: Act1Sc.1). I highly recommend everyone to read this play tonight, for it is "the very witching hour of our time".
A Wintery Day
Now, I know Halloween is just around the corner, metaphorically speaking of course. However, when I woke up this morning to go to work, it literally felt more like Christmas. There was snow covering the grass and trees and the snow was falling gently from the sky. In my opinion, this weather is quite shocking, even though most Edmonton people think nothing of snow in the fall. I think I need to buy winter supplies soon because the weather is supposed to stay like this all week. Also, I am definately certain that I am going to freeze to death this winter.
Well, I am sure it is evident that I arrived safely in Edmonton, Alberta last Monday. I must admitt, it is strange being back and slightly depressing, for this is really not what I had in mind for this year. I wished I could be a student again, but my program was just too bloody awful to stay. Therefore, moving to Edmonton is the best choice at the momement because I have a full time job working at Tim Hortons for ten dollars an hour and an awsome place to live. I will probably be happier once I get adjusted to this new life. Fare thee well.
Has Halloween Gone Too Far with Gore?
A Chilly Friday the 13th
As most of you know, today is Friday the 13th, the most unluckiest day of the year. In my opinion, also the second scariest day of the year, after Halloween of course. Today has been quite creepy thus far. It started on my usual morning walk through the small forest area near my dorm. The morning was chilly and there was a slight breeze, so I put on my fall coat, leg warmers and gloves and off I went for my walk. Whilst I was walking, a small, gray cloud entrapped the sun, dimming the area where I was located. Thinking this normal, I kept walking. Then out of no where, seven crows came swooping over my head. Now, compared to Essex, I find it quite unusual to find crows in Ottawa, especially in the morning. This creepy sensation grew inside of me as I walked further on the path and when I turned the corner, all seven of the crows were sitting on top of three trees, cawing like madness at me. It was very creepy, but an awsome experience. Then of course when I was walking back to my dorm I almost got hit by a car, but that is normal in Ottawa. So, out of inspiration this morning, I rented Alfred Hitchcocks classic The Birds to watch tonight. Happy Friday the 13th and as Chaucer wrote "And on a Friday fell all this mischance". Fare thee well.
RIP Discman 2001-2006
A tragedy has struck in my life today, for my discman has officially died. After six long loyal years, it has decided to leave this world and rest in peace for eternal. I must admit I will truly miss my discman. I recieved the discman in seventh grade on my thirteenth birthday and I was overjoyed that I finally had something to listen to my cd's anywhere I go. Even though this discman was from Zellers, it survived every near fatal accident in its life. It has been thrown arond it backpacks, suit cases and purses and has been dropped about million times, but still remained in tact. It even survived the great fall of 2003, when Katrina dropped my discman and the lid was practically destroyed. Now it wont even turn on, not even the radio:( Therefore, farwell discman, you will be truly missed.
Now here is one my favourite speeches from Shakespeare recited by my favourite Shakespearean character.:
Helena to Hermia- A Midsummer Nights Dream
Have you not set Lysander, as in scorn.
To follow me, and praise my eyes and face?
And made your other lover Demetrius-
Who even but now did spurn me with his foot-
To call me goddess, nymph, divine and rare,
Precious, celestial? Wherefore speak he this
To her he hates? and wherefore doth Lysander
Deny your love, so rich within his soul,
And tender me, forsooth, affection,
But by your setting on, by your consent?
What though I be not so in grace as you,
So hung upon with love, so fortunate;
But miserable most, to love unlov'd?
This you should pity rather than despise.
Now this means I only have about 1,997 speeches left to memorize. Fare thee well.
Mad World
Mad World by Gary Jules
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
The tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one new me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world.
Great lyrics and a honest view of life. I think I have to officially leave Algonquin College before it ruins my university application, for I do not want this crappy school to screw up my life again. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Fare thee well.
October- The Scariest Month of the Year
September has come and gone and October has risen once again. October has to be one of my favourite months of the year, for so many changes occur and is a festive holiday. In this October there is Thanksgiving to welcome the harvest, Friday the Thirteenth and then of course Halloween, the scariest day of the year. This is also a time for great changes as well. The weather slowly decreases its temperature from summer heat to a chilly automn, the leaves transform into a beautiful scenery of colours and pumkins begin to sprout from the Earth! I am just so thankful to have September finished. I must say, it was one of the strangest months I have ever experienced. Many things happened in my life in September. Here is a lovely list of everything that occured in September:- I moved to a new city.- I started my school year at Algonquin College.-I met some awsome people.-I dyed my hair.-I got my lip pierced.- I re-applied to Carleton University.- I dropped out of my awful program and now I am a part time student.September was a stressful time, but now I am doing what I want do with my life and feel as though October will be a good month. Fare thee well.
